About

SARAH COOK, MD, MBA

Sarah Cook, MD, MBA is board certified in general adult psychiatry and addiction medicine.

After she graduated with a BA from Stanford University, she completed a post-baccalaureate premedical program at the University of Southern California. She completed medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and residency at Emory School of Medicine.

During residency, Dr. Cook completed extensive training in medication management as well as multiple psychotherapy methodologies including psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. She completed the core curriculum at the Emory University Psychoanalytic Institute which helped strengthen her psychotherapy skills.

Following residency, Dr. Cook stayed on as faculty with the Emory University School of Medicine as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

With Emory, her clinical practice was based at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she worked for seven years in the emergency department, providing both psychiatric evaluations and medical clearance for patients presenting with a psychiatric concern.

She transitioned from Emory and Grady to outpatient practice with the wish to spend more time with patients and to use psychotherapy and medication management skills more frequently.

Dr. Cook’s passion for education and ongoing learning as an adult led her to return to school while working. She completed an MBA from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2022. Not only did she learn the skills of running a sustainable, inclusive, mutually beneficial practice, but she opened her network to a wider network of professionals outside of medicine which helped inform her practice and deepened her awareness of the diverse experiences and trajectories of individuals.
